Astrological Birth Chart Interpretation (Astro Progfile)
Steve Hogarth of Marillion

In common with many successful creative individuals, there are a large number of difficult aspects between planets in Steve's chart. Generally speaking, the more "difficult" a person's astrological birth chart, the greater the chance of personal achievement in life. In Steve's chart, one can also see that the planets were scattered fairly evenly around the heavens at birth, pulling him simultaneously in many different directions. There is a roughly even distribution of planets in the four elements of Fire, Earth, Air and Water, indicating a complicated but potentially well-balanced individual.
H's essentially private and vulnerable nature with a deep need for emotional security is shown by both his Taurean Sun in the 4th house and Venus and Moon in Cancer, the sign of home and family. In total contrast, Steve's powerful Jupiter and Pluto conjunction in Leo (Mick Jagger also has this!) compels him towards powerful dramatic self-expression in the public domain. Being the lead singer of Marillion, who are of course well known for their "extended family" of fans, is the perfect combination of Steve's private and public sides.
A prominent Mars in Aquarius pulls Steve in yet another direction, with a strong and genuine humanitarian desire to make the world a better place. His recent support for the Make Poverty History campaign is an obvious example.
With a Capricorn ascendant (rising) sign, Steve projects himself into the world with authority and self-control. His ruling planet Saturn (the "schoolteacher" of the zodiac) is strongly placed in the 10th house, a classic indication of ambition and ability to take responsibility in the eyes of the world. When h joined Marillion in 1989, his Saturn was at the difficult beginning of a new 29 year cycle of responsibility and commitment. This cycle reached the crucial halfway mark in the Spring and Summer of 2004, exactly as Marillion achieved fresh worldwide acclaim with the release of Marbles and the accompanying singles. After 15 years of relative "obscurity", Steve is only just beginning, both with Marillion and as a solo artist!
P.S. Marillion fans may or may not be surprised to hear that there are an astonishing number of similarities between the astrological charts of Steve Hogarth and Fish.
