Jerome Froese (Germany) / Jerome Froese - Shiver Me Timbers (2007)
« on: July 17, 2016, 09:35:17 AM »
Jerome Froese's second solo album called "Shiver me timbers" was released at the end of April, 2007. The album contains 10 titles with a total lenght of 64 minutes and 17 seconds. Cover artwork by Monique Froese.

Tracklisting:

01. Economical with the truth - 06mn 55s
02. A mellow morning - 06mn 36s
03. Mrs. Misty Kiss - 06mn 33s
04. Colorless green ideas sleep furiously - 05mn 51s
05. Daisy's Drug - 08mn 10s
06. Ye gods and little fishes - 04mn 19s
07. Haunting your home and neighborhood - 09mn 32s
08. Through love and deed - 06mn 0s
09. Playing for penalties - 05mn 20s
10. Strictly from nowhere - 04mn 40s

Like on "Neptunes" everything you hear is mainly based on guitars but in some places it sounds quite different to its predecessor. You'll find spheric guitar walls and arppegios as well as distorted and disturbing moments. "Shiver me timbers"  opens another chapter which is definitely linked to Jerome's handwriting.

Huis (Canada) / Huis -Biography
« on: July 17, 2016, 09:17:50 AM »
A short Bio on Huis, taken from the band´s website:

Huis ("home doors" in french, and "house" in dutch) is a five member musical project officially formed by Pascal Lapierre and Michel Joncas at the end of 2009, after an oustanding and inspiring trip in the Netherlands.

At that time, they decided to put on tape (read hard drive!) some ideas they had in mind since a long time. Over time, three other talented musicians, William Régnier, Sylvain Descôteaux and Michel St-Père, joined the band, each one bringing a special touch to Huis’ sound.

In 2014, the band released his first album, Despite Guardian Angels.

After receiving rave reviews for Despite Guardian Angels, the group began to work on the second album, Neither in Heaven, released in April 2016.

In the fall of 2014, keyboardist and founding member, Pascal Lapierre, had to leave for family reasons. Benoît Dupuis (Mystery) came replace him temporarily for the following months. In October 2015, Johnny Maz officially joined the band as keyboardist.

Fractal Mirror (NL) / Fractal Mirror - Biography
« on: July 17, 2016, 08:53:45 AM »
A short Bio on Fractal Mirror, taken from the band´s website:

The origins of Fractal Mirror can be traced back to the mid-eighties when three friends from Amsterdam started to make music together influenced by bands from the famous 4AD label and artists like David Sylvian. At the same time a new wave of progressive rock was expanding its listening audience.  Bands like IQ, Pendragon, Twelfth Night, Marillion and Pallas but especially the virtually unknown Canadian band Terraced Garden have been a big influence on Fractal Mirror music.

Fast Forward to 2012:

Two of the original members are still working together but the musical focus has shifted towards contemporary pop/rock music with progressive rock influences.  Via Facebook a drummer from the States is found and after working out recording logistics through some demos the band decides on the name Fractal Mirror.  At the end of 2012  tracks were recorded at home for a CD.  The drum tracks were recorded at a studio in New Jersey in the summer of 2013.  These tracks were then mixed and mastered in August at the Autumnsongstudios in Trondheim, Norway by Rhys Marsh from Rhys Marsh and the Autumn Ghosts (recently interviewed in Classic Rock Presents Prog).  Our music has been played on many of the leading progressive radio stations to a very positive response.  As our ability to collaborate across the ocean improves and we share our musical ideas online, look for Fractal Mirror to release some new and exciting music in 2013 which will continue to demonstrate this variety of influences in an increasingly original blend.

2014:

Garden of Ghosts is released in November, 2014 to overwhelmingly positive response, receiving feature airplay and special full length album previews on many fine internet sites.  See our REVIEWS page for a recap of the reviews.  We also made many Best of the Year lists as well.

2015:

We have written over 70 minutes of new music, some nearly complete, some just guitar and vocals, some verse/chorus requiring some additional music.  Once again, the music is evolving.  Stay tuned for some previews in the next few months. The CD will again be co-produced and mixed by Brett Kull of Echolyn and various other quality music projects.

Fractal Mirror:

Ed van Haagen: Bass, Keyboards and Programming

Leo Koperdraat: Voice, Guitars, Keyboards and Lyrics

Frank L. Urbaniak: Drums, Percussion and Lyrics
