ok, so off to Swindon Friday to see Credo + Arena at Riff's Bar.
I would like to start by telling you Riff's Bar has won Music Pub of the Year for the last 2 years, yes it is petite & bijou, but it's the friendliest, lovliest venue I have been to in a blinking long time. You get bear at a reasonable price in a glass glass, the staff are freindly and enthusiastic, and the landlord & landlady are like your best friends! If you get a chance to pop in some time do so, they have stuff on all the time, rock, blues, jazz, open mike, jam sessions, it's all there!
So having shoe horned our way in, we wiggled up to the front to see CREDO.........bare in mind it's 16 0r 17 years since I last saw these guys!
The Arena boys came to watch the set, as did some other prog faces.......... Nick Barrett, Steve Christie, John wetton.......I have probably missed someone out..........(sorry

)
Having said the Riff's is petite & bijou, you will by now be imagining a small gig..... well it definately wasn't quiet, nor was it poorly attended!
There was a good crowd, and I am pleased, cos CREDO rocked big time!
The stage was so helplessly small that once the Arena gear was set up it meant that half of CREDO were on the step or on the floor........ but it really did not matter, they played a blinder!
here is the set list:-
Skintrade This is a great track, full of grittiness and humour!
Turn The Gun Around Too Late to Say Goodbye The Game fab track.........my fav from the new album!
From The Cradle To The Grave These are all tracks from the new album RHETORIC and I was muchly impressed!
Tim Birrell's guitar sound is like a Mike Oldfield sound, really nice, they were really together and clearly enjoyed the gig themselves.(don't you hate seeing a band who looked bored!?!?!?) Mike Varty (Landmarq, Janison Edge) is great on keys............and Mark sounds like a young Fish when he sings!
It was truly a flippin great gig........Mark (as we all suspected, is a lovely bloke!) If you get a chance to see these guys GO!, and if you havn't done so already
BUY THE FLIPPIN ALBUM!!!

So after Credo were Arena.............

............. a good night altogether!
