News from Tangerine Dream's Tour promoter

THE CONTINUATION OF THE QUANTUM YEARS....
CONCERT TOURNÉE IN MEMORY OF EDGAR FROESE
HONOURING THE LEGEND OF TANGERINE DREAM

New Release "QUANTUM KEY". This is the first release of newly composed music by TANGERINE DREAM after Edgar Froese’s sudden change of his cosmic address early last year. A part of his last compositions are forming the fundament of this stunning EP.
But QUANTUM KEY is only the vanguard of the coming QUANTUM GATE album – also based on Edgar Froese’s compositions - which the members of Tangerine Dream Thorsten Quaeschning, Ulrich Schnauss and Hoshiko Yamane are currently working on.
Edgar Froese, the head and founder of Tangerine Dream, had the wonderful idea of translating the current knowledge of the quantum physics - which he was very much interested in - into sound and already started this project before his sad death in January 2015. The EP MALA KUNIA was the first music out of “The Quantum Years” series which was published in November 2014 on the occasion of the MMW Festival concert in Melbourne.

It was a great fortune that Edgar still had the chance to discuss his vision with the remaining band members and that Bianca Froese-Acquaye, Edgar's wife, decided to continue with Tangerine Dream upon his wish. She knew that Thorsten, Ulrich and Hoshiko could face this huge challenge with their beautiful talents. At the same time this task would be a unique chance for the music coming into life. So the band continued developing these musical ideas after Edgar's sudden "change of his cosmic address" and you will have the chance now to listen to some wonderful tracks and experience the extraordinary musical world of Tangerine Dream again: In honour and memory of Edgar Froese. It is also planned to invite great VIP guest musicians on this tournée who consider Edgar and Tangerine Dream as their inspiring example.
Tangerine Dream, this seven time Grammy nominated European band, is a singular phenomenon. As an instrumental band using just high-end modern technology, simultaneously surrounded by a strong rock «n« roll identity, they will hardly fit into any given musical pigeonhole. Many have tried to copy what‘s became known after years as «The Tangerine Dream Sound« - so far absolutely unsuccessfully.

They always had their little secrets; how all the musical layers were structured and finally glued together to an indescribable musical experience and how they‘ve managed to always be ahead of any fashionable movement. Tangerine Dream has never produced anything calculated to make the masses jump off their chairs and start screaming Top 40 tunes. Nevertheless, many of the 120 (and counting!) CD, Studio, Live and Soundtrack releases by the band, have their own driving hypnotic pieces and it is nearly impossible to escape from the race of fast driving bass notes and sequencings.

A message from Thorsten Quaeschning 15.7.16:

13 Years ago today I met Edgar for the first time at Eastgate Studios in Vienna. (You know that) I prefer making music than writing nostalgic or useful/useless messages, maybe because it is as difficult to leave the “music-focus-zone” as it is to enter it. But I could make this an “anniversary-exception”.

Since 2003 many things happened and I learned (at least I was told) a lot from the great Master. A very intensive time and a very sad passing of Edgar in January 2015.

Over the past 18 Months, it was necessary to take time to put things in order, find the right team to carry on and complete and compose new music.

We are actually hitting the home straight of the new “Quantum Gate” album and planning new concerts, concepts, follow-up-albums and maybe a “50 Years Tangerine Dream”-special for 2017 (Tangerine Dream was founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese, Volker Hombach, Lanse Hapshash, Charlie Prince and Kurt Herkenberg).

So all I can say is THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your company and interest over the last 13 years, and hopefully in the years to come – I would appreciate it very much.
See and hear you soon.

Yours,

Thorsten “Q” Quaeschning
